Seeking fast, high-quality end-of-line inspection.

The main challenge was to automatically inspect the battery housing of a Japanese OEM in less than 120 seconds, seeking to achieve an efficient process synchronized with automatic intralogistics using AGVs and AMRs. The goal was to implement a multi-technology solution that could ensure the quality of each part with a high level of precision and a very low cycle time. 

This Japanese OEM required 100% end-of-line quality inspection for battery cases, which posed the challenge of integrating complex inspection technologies into a production cycle that would run quickly and achieve accurate results. The cell had to be able to detect defects quickly and centralize the entire inspection process.
 

 

The Solution: IRIS CELL ONE

To overcome this challenge, IRIS CELL ONE was developed, an automated cell equipped with multi-platform vision technology. This inspection line performs comprehensive checks automatically in less than 120 seconds.

This system is designed to work seamlessly with Motoman GP-12 robots and advanced controllers, enabling rapid identification of potential defects. The automated approach significantly reduces inspection cycle times, ensuring that the process does not interfere with production rates.

 

Results

The integration of IRIS CELL ONE at this Japanese OEM has been a resounding success. It is the first cell of its kind in a Japanese OEM group, marking a milestone in the automation and digitization of quality inspection in the automotive industry.
